Me, More Normal

Me, More Normal is a play that explores the spectrum of acceptable behavior. Tenara meditates on her childhood growing up with a brother with autism, and her dawning understanding that the world is quick to label what is normal and what is not. Using autobiographical memory, material, video, and family history, Me, More Normal shows that the diagnosis of difference is not so much in the individual, but in the world at large.

Community partnerships

Me, More Normal was developed in partnership with the Arc of Philadelphia, an advocacy-based organization that works with and for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, to promote active citizenship, self-determination, and full inclusion. When LPC approached the Arc about this project, the two organizations established a mutually beneficial collaboration, in which Arc staff-members served as cultural and artistic advisors on the piece, and LPC helped the Arc organize and facilitate a Disability Inclusion Workshop for Artists - with an emphasis on creating work with multiple points of entry so that all can enjoy.
